Input Validation
Pre-processing step that checks user inputs against schemas, PII rules and length limits.
Definition
Input validation is the first line of defence: schema checks, PII scrubbing, prompt-injection detection, length caps. It is cheaper than after-the-fact output moderation and stops many issues before billing or risk accumulates.
Common use cases
- API hardening
- Compliance
- Cost control
